Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI
MRI is a tool which non-invasively assists physicians in the diagnosis of areas, such as the head, abdomen and chest, including detailed imaging of the vascular system and major organs.  MRI exams are used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable from a conventional physical examination.

Marian Community Hospital has selected the Signa HDx 1.5T from GE Healthcare as its MRI system. This state-of-the-art MRI system delivers highly detailed images of the human body with increased speed, better resolution and unique applications.  This advanced technology provides shorter exam times and greater comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic confidence for doctors.  The quality of MRI scanning produced by this new system is equivalent to that of any other facility within the local area.

MRI Audio Visual System
For the majority of scans, Marian Community Hospital can offer patients the use of an Audio/Visual System to aid in the comfort and relaxation especially for children and those who are claustrophobic.
The advanced electronics and the innovative design used in the Audio/Video System provides the hospital with a simple solution to MRI patient comfort and communication. The headset has a two-way patient intercom with built in microphone. This allows the patient and technologist to communicate while a video or TV program of the patient's choice is playing. According to our MRI patients, the Audio/Video system is especially helpful for those who have claustrophobic tendencies.
