Digital Radiology

Everyone realizes that in times of emergencies being able to diagnose injuries and medical conditions is critical to a person’s survival. To insure the fastest interpretation of diagnostic imaging, Marian Community has acquired equipment that digitizes X-rays, Ultrasound, and MRI scans. CT films are sent automatically to the digitizer by the scanner. These films are digitized and sent electronically to Radiologist who work at Marian Community but have left for the day or are on call. This procedure takes 10 minutes at best. The Radiologists receives the images at his home, interprets the films and phones information to the Emergency Department. This call is followed up by a written report. By having equipment at each physicians home, the doctor does not have to spend the time traveling to the hospital to view the films. This saves precious time, and treatment can be administered quickly.
