Medical Nutrition Therapy

Marian Community Hospital offers Medical Nutrition Therapy services for a number of medical conditions such as: diabetes, weight management, cardiovascular disease management, food allergies, and kidney disease. Registered dieticians conduct in-depth nutrition assessment, plan goals and measure outcomes to improve health and/or disease prevention, and assist patients with lifestyle changes to attain these goals. We offer services to all age groups.

Personal Choice Dining

In order to serve our patients more efficiently at Marian Community Hospital, we have developed an innovative meal preparation and delivery system, which we call Personal Choice Dining.  This service gives patients greater control over  meal selections.

The physician will prescribe a specific diet to meet the patient's particular needs.  A Host/Hostess will visit the patient and help him or her make meal selections which are in compliance with the prescribed diet.  At mealtime, the Host/Hostess will assemble the patient's tray according to these selections and will deliver it personally. 

A patient who needs assistance in opening any containers is encouraged  to request this help when the Host/Hostess arrives in the room.

If the physician or dietitian prescribes between-meal snacks, they will be automatically delivered to the room at the appropriate time.

If a family member or a friend wishes to dine with the patient, we do have guest meals available. Please notify the nursing staff, and they will order a guest meal.

Some things to remember…

·        Certain tests mandate that patients not eat for a period of time. When this happens, we will be certain to deliver the patient's meal immediately after the tests have been completed.

·        It is important that a patient order only the foods he or she plans to eat, so that accurate calorie counts may be taken when needed.
