Spiritual Care Department
The Spiritual Care Department brings God's presence and healing ministry to patients and families. They assist patients in meeting their personal spiritual needs, religious needs, prayer and sacraments. If needed, Spiritual Care Staff members will help people get in touch with their fears, anxieties, and question which will bring them to claim a freedom in choices and decisions. The department consists of two staff chaplains and a chaplain director. They are complemented by volunteers who make parish contacts, pastoral services and eucharistic minister rounds.

How can the Spiritual Care Team help?
The hospital experience can be overwhelming and may result in feelings of anxiety, fear, depression, frustration, despair, anger, guilt, disbelief, powerlessness, helplessness, loss of control, and loneliness. Spiritual Care can help. At Marian Community Hospital, we are committed to giving you the best medical care possible, while also placing a high value on your spiritual and emotional well-being. We believe these play a significant role in what happens as you seek healing and health. We are committed to supporting you on your spiritual journey.

Catholic Sacraments
The Sacrament of the Sick and the Sacrament of Reconciliation are available to all patients who desire to receive them. Holy Communion is distributed daily. Copies of the New Testament and other faith and age-appropriate materials are available to each patient.

Advance Directive Education
It is the right of the patient to accept or refuse medical care. An advance directive protects this right if the patient ever becomes terminally ill and mentally or physically unable to choose or communicate his/her wishes.

A living will is a list of written instructions that explain a person's wishes regarding health care, including organ donation. A durable power of attorney allows a person to name another person to make decisions about healthcare wishes. Either document allows the patient to give directions about his/her future healthcare.
